As many of you know, I am not a big fan of the some of the larger help organizations in El Salvador. I have lived here long enough to know that too much of their work is a lie and too much of their donations go to the fat cats who live high up on the hills just outside of where I live in this little country called El Salvador.
But at last, that does not mean that all are rotten. I have seen some great organizations and some real results and it is made possible by people who dedicate time.
I am extending myself for Volunteer including helping fellow Americans who need transport or just orientation to El Salvador. I can also translate, I speak fluent Spanish and fluent English.
If any of my readers are in an organization that needs volunteers, let me know, I have transport, I know the land and I live locally in El Salvador (obviously).
Anybody else who needs help, voice it.... nobody likes to be alone in a strange place, there is help here....

I just wanted to thank you for this blog. I was googling cost of living in different Latin American cities, and this came up in the process. I have read for longer than I intended, and bookmarked the blog for future reading. I am moving abroad in 2 months, first to Guadelajara, Mexico, and then who knows.... I intend on teaching English. I have a dear friend that returned to El Salvador last year, and I always have a little thought in the back of my head of seeing him again, this time in his country. Thank you and good luck!
You are very welcome and thank you for reading. I am glad you like the blog. Teaching english is a good job in many central american areas. In El Salvador its so so, its not the best work but there is plenty available and you can earn enough to -survive- if you are willing to live so so. But there is plenty of other opprotunity alike.
You should consider visiting your friend in El Salvador. You will find a place you will probably like and maybe somewhere you could one day call home.
I never thought I could and now look!
If you ever decide to visit, feel free to ask any questions and in any way I (we) could help, just let me know!
Suerte con todo. :-)
I've just stumbled upon your blog! It's been interesting seeing life from a 'city' view.
I've been living in Berlin (in the dept. of Usulutan) for almost 3 years ... I chuckled over your blog of the back road to Suchitoto! Those are the kinds of roads I always drive!
You would be most welcome in Berlin if you would like to discover a more 'humble' volunteer effort happening here in the cantons of Berlin! check out the oursisterparish.org website! I'm now a follower of your blog!
thanks for sharing!
