Dear Readers,

Please forgive me for the lack of updates.  If you are in the process of moving here or need help please read this blog or email me, I am replying to emails daily! I look forward to hearing from you.

The lack of updates doesn't mean I have forgotten you .... nor does it mean my quest is over.  I am but human just like you dear readers and my life has been hectic lately.  Being an expat has its difficult moments here.  Moving, new jobs, etc.

I will continue to update this blog soon and I will answer emails daily as always!

Cost of Living Update

Here is a quick cost of living update.  These are prices of some basic things, they are as of this month.  This is not complete, just an update.

Loaf of white bread: $1.10
Bacon (Standard pack.) : $2.60
Fast Food (KFC, Pizza Hut) : Same price as in the USA.  Average meal: $4.00 - $5.00
Standard tank of purified water: $5.25 (Refill: $1.75) = Enough to last 3-4 weeks for two people.
Tank of Gas (for stove): $5.50 (lasts about 3-4 months for me and I cook ALOT with a huge oven)
Rent (in Lourdes, private community: $300 a month (3br/3br house with AC & Hot water)
Gas: $3.30 Gallon for Regular
Phone+Internet (1MB Cable)+Cable TV (150 Channels): $62 monthly (Tigo)
Electricity: $0.17 cents per Kilowatt.  Under 300 Kilowatts a month = Reduced price by government program
Bus Fair: $0.20 - 0.40 cents.  (Cross country "Direct" / "Special" up to $2.00)
Individual bag of water: 0.10 cents
Can of coke: 0.40 cents
Cell phone calls: 0.14 cents per minute to other cell phones.  0.10 per minute to USA (Incoming always free)
Silverware (Home stays brand, walmart): 0.50 cents each for knives, forks, spoons.
Pillows: Two for five dollars. Regular price 3 each.
